In
highlighting the relief of a traveler in “Home”, Dierks Bentley uses emotional,
first person point of view, and the explanation of the country, to say the
value of “The place we all call home”. The song comes from the point of view of
a traveler who goes across the country, talking about how great the land that
we call home really is. The song starts out by talking about how the land is
very different in many ways, “from the mountains high, to the wave crashed
coast”. The part of the song that say’s “Free, nothing feels like free, though it sometimes
mean we don’t get along”, is saying that we feel like we are free. But sometimes we aren’t because sometimes we don’t
get along with everyone. The song then talks about how it’s “Been a long hard
ride, got a ways to go”. Meaning that it’s been a long ride and things have
been tough. But, we still have a ways to go, to keep the things that we have
and the things that we fight for. The song then talks about how, “Brave, gotta call
it brave, to chase that dream across the sea”. Talking
about the brave men and women that defend our country and defend our rights as Americans.
Many Americans sacrifice their lives to defend our country every day. The song then ends with similar lines from the beginning of the song. “This is still the place,
that we all call home”. This is referring to the fact that we might have some
things that we don’t like or don't agree with. The land and country is “Still the place that we all
call home”.
